Y13 Student, Rebecca, Delivers Speech on the Auschwitz Online Project

On Wednesday 26th January as part of the Department for Education’s event for Holocaust Memorial Day, Year 13 student Rebecca Goddard was invited to prepare and deliver a speech via Zoom about her experiences of the Lessons from Auschwitz Online project that she participated in last year.

She spoke about hearing from a Holocaust survivor, viewing a virtual reality of what Auschwitz looks like today and the impact this has had on her and the school. Rebecca was chosen from all the students who participated in the Holocaust Educational Trust Lessons from Auschwitz Project Online last year because of her commitment to ensuring the Holocaust is remembered in 2021 and embracing her role as an Ambassador.

The audience for this event included Nadim Zahawi, the Secretary of State for Education and Karen Pollack the Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust.

Rebecca is now applying for the Regional Ambassador post for the Holocaust Educational Trust as a result of her work so far and will be completing her application for the beginning of February.

Everyone at WSSC is incredibly proud of Rebecca and her achievement, well done!
