This morning, we welcomed our Y11s back to school to collect and celebrate their GCSE results.Â
Although this Year Group have had to navigate their way through some big challenges throughout their time at Wickersley, they have gone on to achieve some fantastic results, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication they have put into their studies.Â
We’re incredibly proud of all of our Y11 students and wish them the best of luck with whatever the next step is – whether that’s through sixth form, college or an apprenticeship.Â
Mr Hardcastle, Headteacher at Wickersley School and Sports College, said: “We are incredibly proud of all of our Year 11 students collecting their GCSE results today. Â
“Our Year 11 experienced extraordinary disruption to their studies, including school closures and home-learning during national lockdowns. Despite this, they remained resilient throughout and have matured into brilliant, buoyant young adults.
“The wonderful results they have received today is a testament to this. We wish our Year 11 all the best as they begin the next step of their education or training. Following the fantastic sixth form results last week, many of our students have decided to continue their studies at Wickersley Sixth Form. Good luck to those students that are continuing their education or training elsewhere, especially those who have secured an apprenticeship.
“Regardless of their ongoing destinations, we wish all students the very best of luck. For all, these results are the product of five years of hard work through some of the toughest times in education, ever.”
Congratulations, Y11!
