A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies students recently travelled to London for a two-day theatre experience along with a number of Drama GCSE students. The group took part in a practical acting workshop at Pineapple Studios with a professional actor based on techniques used in the West End production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
There was also an enjoyable and informative tour of the National Theatre, during which the students had the opportunity to learn about the history of the building as they visited all three separate theatre spaces and the backstage production areas where scenery, props, and costumes are created.
The two productions they saw – The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Hamilton – will be analysed by Y12 and Y13 students for their written exam and will go on to inform their practical work for Y12’s Component 1 devised work.
