WSSC MAT Sports Day Success

On Wednesday 10th July, a selected group of Y6’s, Y7’s, Y8’s and Y9’s attended the MAT sports day against Clifton, Rawmarsh and Thrybergh. The morning session consisted of a Mixed Rounders tournament at Rawmarsh School. Despite our boys and girls having never played together before, all year groups won every single game and were crowned Rounders Champions!

The afternoon session took place at Herringthorpe Track as our students took part in an Athletics competition. There were some outstanding performances from all. Some highlights were James Sturman Y7 winning the cricket ball throw by 30m, Ellen Henry Y9 blowing everyone away with her outstanding Javelin throw, Louis Johnson Y9 dominating the 800m, Antonia Bentham-Green Y8 winning the 1500m by 120m, Ethan Hardy comfortably winning his 100m, and our South Yorkshire champion, Matilda Holmes, putting on a masterclass in the 1500m yet again!

A huge well done to all students involved, you represented the school exceptionally well and made us all very proud to be Wickersley.
