Last week, some of our incredibly talented students took part in the WPT is 10 Showcase at Magna Science Adventure Centre – an event to commemorate the 10th anniversary since Wickersley School and Sports College academised and Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) was established.
The Showcase was WPT’s biggest collaborative event to date, with over 300 students from across the Trust coming together to put on an extraordinary exhibit and show for the school, Trust and local community.
When attendees first arrived, they were first greeted with a stunning performance from our super musicians in the Face of Steel before heading into the Art Gallery, which displayed hundreds of pieces of work from some super talented artists. This led the crowd to the Big Hall where they could see a DT display, a timeline of the Trust, the WPT School Report showcase and our Alumni stand.
Then it was showtime! We’re proud that our very own Wickersley students played a crucial role in the event with the following performances:
- The Princess and the Frog (an extract from our 2024 pantomime!)
- For Good (From Wicked) – a song dueted by two of our talented students
- Cheerleading
- Tema Popular de Brasil – a guitar duet from two of our Sixth Form students
- The Greatest Showman Medley – performed by the WPT Young Voices choir
Well done to all those involved; Summer, Scarlett, Matilda, Ruby, Lauren, Tom, Cameron, Mollie, Emily, Georgie, Layna, Sophie, Christopher, Edward, George, Grace, Megan, Hollie, Abi, Freya, Rhiannon, Lucy, Elsie, Alicia, Penelope, Tilly, Tom, Dominic, Charlie, Lottie, Erin, Phoebe, Posie, Faith, Jacob, Amogh, John, James, Scarlet, Harriet, Ava, Sienna, Poppy, Emilia, and Amelia.
Not to mention four of Wickersley Sixth Form students – Emily, Sophie, Cole and Ben – who did a fantastic job hosting the event as comperes!
We have some incredibly talented students at Wickersley and it was great to see many of them perform on such a large scale in front of the school and local community.
Mr Hardcastle, Wickersley School and Sports College, said: “As a Headteacher of Wickersley, I was humbled and impressed by the talent on show at the WPT is 10 Showcase, and it filled me with pride to see such incredible performances from our students.
“It was wonderful to see Wickersley students working together with and supporting other talented students from across the Trust.
“Our students always rise to the challenge and support one another. That’s the Wickersley Way.”
Thank you to everyone who came to support Wickersley students at the WPT is 10 Showcase event, and another huge well done to everyone involved.
