On Sunday 4th February, Ben and Lucas from Thrybergh Academy, and Ruby from Wickersley School headed to Nottingham to compete in the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland District 1220 Young Musician Final, which covers South Yorkshire to North Nottinghamshire.
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Ben (sponsored by Rotary Club of Rotherham) won the Vocal Class with an outstanding performance! This means he will now progress to the Regional Final in March.
He also got some fantastic feedback from the judges, who all said he has a great voice and is capable of a career in music.
Ruby (sponsored by Rotary Club of Doncaster) and Lucas (sponsored by Rotary Club of Rotherham) also gave excellent performances and received certificates of commendation and positive feedback from the judges to help with their future performances.
Sarah Bingham, Director of Music at Wickersley Partnership Trust, said: “Myself and everyone at WPT are incredibly proud of Ben, Ruby and Lucas. They have performed at various events across the Trust schools over the last few years and it’s wonderful to see them being recognised on a district level.
“Well done to all three students, who were brilliant in the competition. And of course, a special congratulations goes to Ben Kelly who won the final and is through to the regional level.”
Congratulations again to all three students – you did your schools and the Trust proud!
