Students taking GCSE Leisure and Tourism had a close-up encounter with OZ: The Great and Powerful this week when they went to see the movie in 3D at Cineworld’s IMAX. The group were taken there by Mrs Ibbotson and Mr Naldrett, who are teaching them about how Cineworld use new technology to enhance the customer experience. The trip was to help them with their coursework, which looks at the impact of digital projectors, online booking, 3D technology and how the cinema is using social networking. The class have also been comparing the modern cinema experience with what it was like in the 1980s when you couldn’t book online and you had to check the film times in a newspaper! Those were the days!
