Year 8 pupils interested in Science, Engineering and Maths attended a careers fair at Winterhill School on Tuesday the 12th November.
Pupils watched a presentation on the industrial heritage of the South Yorkshire area, and then were given the opportunity to speak to employees of high profile industries such as Boing and Tata Steal, as well as representatives from Universities and Colleges. This allowed pupils to gain an idea of the wide range of opportunities that are available to them if they choose follow a career in Science, Engineering and Maths, and the relevant subject choices for their GCSE options.
The organisers commented on the maturity and knowledge of the Wickersley pupils. Isabelle Coulson, Jade Jennison and Isabel Tsang particularly impressed delegates with their knowledge of composite materials, whilst Georgia Oxley won a prize for her knowledge of the bones of the human body
