The Rotherham United FC/Wickersley SSC Football scholarship is a collaboration between Wickersley School and the community arm of Rotherham United FC. The aim is to provide competitive football and coaching opportunities for pupils in the sixth form allowing pupils to combine football with A Level study. We have both a boys and a girls team and the coaching takes place twice a week with sessions led by the Rotherham United coaching team. Competitive games are then played on Wednesday afternoons against other clubs’ scholarship programmes. The players compete in the Community Education Football Alliance League with opponents including Sheffield United, Barnsley, Port Vale, Scunthorpe, Blackpool and many others.
