Year 7 Science Careers Lesson – Smashing Stereotypes
Dr. Sheila Kanani was born in London, U.K.
She studied astrophysics at the University of Manchester and University College London. Dr. Kanani also used the Cassini spacecraft to study Saturn!
Dr Kanani is a planetary physicist, science TV presenter, Physics teacher, space comedian and author of books for children and young adults.
She is one busy STEM superstar!
Year 8 Science Careers Lesson – Jobs in Science
Space Psychologist
Responsible for ensuring astronauts are well supported to deal with spending time in space
Snake Milker
Responsible for taking venom from a snake. Snake venom has many uses, but it’s a dangerous job so a great deal of training is needed.
Scatologist
The study of excrement. Excrement can help inform a scientist of an animals health.
Firework Designer
Responsible for designing fireworks to ensure they are safe and visually impressive. A firework designer must have a good understanding of explosives.
