Welcome to the Wickersley Sixth Form Virtual Open Day Experience
Welcome to our Sixth Form virtual open day experience, a chance to learn about the subjects we offer, the facilities we have available at Wickersley, and how we prepare our Sixth Form students for university, and life after school.
This year, due to the government restrictions on mass gatherings, we’re unable to invite students into school to learn about Wickersley Sixth Form. So here, online, you will find lots of information about who we are and what we offer. Below, you will find videos from our staff and students, explaining everything you need to know about life at Wickersley Sixth Form.
You can also learn about how to apply for Wickersley Sixth Form, and how our application process will work this year.
We’ve tried to include all the key information students and parents need to know about our Sixth Form, including frequently asked questions.

Welcome to Wickersley
Welcome to Wickersley
At Wickersley, we value more than just grades.
We’re proud of how much we support our students for life beyond sixth form. On your very first day with us, we’ll encourage you to think beyond sixth form and where you want to go when your studies end.
Our pastoral programme has been carefully designed to prepare you for sixth form study and beyond. Our blend of enrichment, tutorial, employability lectures, work experience and student support ensures that every student receives a personalised programme of study.
This programme runs alongside your academic qualifications and is intended to not only hone your study skills but also develop strength of character that will prepare you for your future in higher education, work, or further training.
The recipe for success at sixth form is simple; work hard, develop good study habits, listen carefully to feedback, and remain buoyant after disappointment and setback. Having dreams and goals is also important – keep focused on these throughout your studies.
Put simply, hard work and determination pay; students who knuckle-down and make the most of the support that is offered in school will reap the rewards. It’s also essential that students are studying the courses that best match their interests and capability.
We aim to send every young person into the world able and qualified to play their full role in it

How to apply
How to Apply
The minimum qualification for entry into Wickersley Sixth Form is five 4 grades at GCSE (or equivalent), including Maths and English. There are specific entry requirements for certain subjects, please see individual course pages or contact us for more information.
A student who does not achieve a grade 4 in their Maths and/or English GCSE will be required to resit these as a condition of their offer. We recommend that students who achieve a grade 4 resit Maths or English to secure a grade 5 during their time at Sixth Form.
Applicants will need to have a proven record of good or excellent effort in Year 11 to qualify for a place, verified by a suitable reference.
Once you have applied, you will be invited to an interview with a member of the Sixth Form team to discuss your current effort, attainment and subject choices. If successful, you will be given a conditional offer to study with us, your offer will become firm once you have received your GCSE exam results, and you have enrolled with us in the Summer.
Further entry tests will be set in each subject in the first weeks of the course in September, this will be taken into account in assessing a student’s suitability for the course.
If you are already a Wickersley student, then there is no need to apply online. Speak to your form tutor for more information. All other students can apply online now:
